Job Description
Universal Plastics specializes in plastic injection molding, including gas assist and structural foam, for customers mostly in the medical, laboratory and diagnostic markets. We supply high quality, large plastic parts with complex designs and high cosmetic requirements. We have presses ranging from 85T -1,500T. The Mold Operator is responsible for running a press and producing plastic parts.
General Information:
This position reports to the Molding Manager and is a full time position. Current production hours for this shift are Monday-Wednesday 7am-7pm, Thursday 7am-3pm.
Responsibilities of a Mold Operator:
Produces defect-free, quality parts that conform to customer requirements and specifications.
Reaches in and removes the plastic part from the mold in the press before the next cycle starts.
Performs visual inspection of the parts to meet quality standards and customer demands.
Packs the part into a shipping box per customer and shipping requirements.
Notifies the Quality Tech or Manager when products are found to be non-standard.
Communicates with Processors to help fix defective parts quickly.
Performs all jobs within the department with the use of instructions (IPC).
Accurately completes production and scrap reports using IQMS software.
Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.
Observes all safety regulations and practices.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager.
Be willing and able to assist in other departments, as needed.
Stands, walks and uses hands for 8 to 10 hours per day; there is no sitting in this position.
Candidate Requirements:
Ability to handle up to 20-pounds.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, written procedures, and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Excellent decision-making skills to ensure parts meet quality and customer standards.
Works efficiently and up to line speed to meet production demands and customer on-time deliveries.
Must be effective and efficient while performing all tasks to ensure production needs are met.
Possess a flexible mindset as jobs and tasks change quickly.
Detail oriented.
High School Diploma with basic math and excellent communication skills.
Plastics experience preferred.
