Job Description
SUMMARY
Reporting to a Survey Manager, the School Survey Assistant (Per Diem) supports data collection for a statewide adolescent health survey. The survey assistant will work with CREEHS staff to coordinate and administer paper-and-pencil surveys on site to students at public high schools across the state of New Jersey. This is a part-time position, with travel around NJ required, for work between September 2025 and December 2025. Multiple positions are available.
CREEHS is a University-based research and evaluation center that provides independent and objective program evaluation, applied research, and program planning services to state and municipal agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, community organizations, and foundations to assist them in meeting their program improvement and accountability needs in the areas of education, public health, and human services. Since its inception in 2011, CREEHS’s goal has been to help our clients collect and use information in ways that improve their programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary survey administrator on-site at participating high schools across NJ.
Communicate with school administrators (e.g., superintendents, principals) via email, phone, and Zoom as part of the study’s school recruitment and survey planning efforts.
Partner with school staff before and during the survey administration process, including setting up logistics and providing key consent and administration materials.
Track details of communication with school staff using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or other structured shared data resource.
Communicate with CREEHS staff regularly, individually, and during weekly check-ins.
Participate in training sessions and simulations on recruitment and data collection protocols.
Complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) training and maintain compliance with all IRB-approved protocols..
Organize, manage, and maintain security of study data, program documentation, and files.
Document and escalate site issues or questions from schools to manager in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Ability to work up to 20-35 hours per week, primarily during school hours (7:30 am to 3:30 pm Eastern Time)
Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to participating schools around NJ in own vehicle (mileage and tolls to be reimbursed)
Minimum one year of professional work experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Some coursework in research methods, education, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or child development, or a related social science field
Experience with Google Suite (e.g., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar)
Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds
Applicants must be willing to complete all security measures (e.g., background check) required by the university
PREFERRED:
Experience and comfort working in public schools with adolescent students
Familiarity with research methods or following a standardized protocol (e.g., conducting human subjects research in an IRB-approved study, administering surveys)
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Quick learner; flexible and willing to learn new ideas, content areas, and skills
Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team while also being able to take initiative and work independently
Experience in customer service
The estimated time commitment is approximately 20-35 hours/week.
The hourly pay is $25/hour.
