Who are we?
We’re the @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally-driven infrastructure projects – from sustainable growth schemes to nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands.
Now, we’re looking for a Geospatial Lead to head up our dedicated Geospatial Team and play a key role in driving digital transformation across the Alliance.
What you’ll be doing…
As Geospatial Lead, you’ll be at the heart of our digital strategy – leading the adoption of GIS and extended reality (XR) technologies to transform how we deliver projects.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the way we use geospatial tools to answer real-world challenges, streamline delivery, and future-proof our infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a talented geospatial team (GIS Analysts, VR Analysts, Data Specialists).
Develop and implement our GIS & XR strategy, ensuring it integrates across all areas of the Alliance.
Champion innovation by identifying emerging technologies and embedding them into day-to-day practice.
Collaborate with suppliers, technical consultants, and internal teams to maximise value from platforms and tools.
Deliver geospatial applications, immersive tools, and data insights that unlock efficiency and enable smarter decision-making.
Act as an ambassador for digital change – promoting our pioneering work both internally and externally at events and conferences.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a passionate digital leader who thrives on innovation and collaboration. You’ll be as comfortable working with suppliers and senior stakeholders as you are mentoring your team.
Essential skills & experience:
A degree (Geography, Environmental Science, or similar preferred – but all considered).
Strong experience in GIS roles (analytics, application development, or both).
Hands-on knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (ArcGIS Online and Pro).
Proven project management experience (Agile knowledge desirable).
Experience in managing or supporting business systems and integrating software solutions.
Stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
Interest in emerging technologies and their practical application.
Experience in leading or mentoring others.
Desirable:
MSc in Geospatial Sciences, GIS, Digital Engineering, or related.
Understanding of CDEs and GIS-BIM integration.
Knowledge of coding (Python, SQL, Arcade).
Experience in the water industry or capital delivery projects.
Our vision and values:
At the @one Alliance, we’re not just building infrastructure—we’re shaping a better future. We’re united by a shared vision to deliver climate-resilient, sustainable water solutions that serve communities for generations to come.
Our values guide everything we do:
Build trust
Do the right thing
