Job Title: Contract Catering Chef

Location: High School of Dundee, Euclid Crescent, Dundee, DD1 1HU
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm
Some occasional Saturday morning working on a rota basis
Term Time Only: 38 weeks + 5.6 holiday weeks (total 43.6 paid weeks per year)
Hourly rate: Up to £13.00 per hour, depending on experience
Join Our Catering Team at the High School of Dundee
We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Chef to join our friendly catering team at the High School of Dundee. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a vibrant school environment where food is at the heart of the community.
As part of a small, supportive team, you’ll play a key role in preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality meals for up to 200 pupils daily. From breakfast to lunch—including a popular homemade pizza offering—you'll be involved in creating enjoyable, nutritious meals that make a difference.
What You'll Be Doing:
Preparing, cooking, and serving food for pupils and staff
Supporting breakfast, mid-morning, and lunch service
Assisting with hospitality catering for school events (buffet lunches, special events)
Contributing to cleaning and kitchen hygiene duties
Cross-training opportunities in both the nursery and primary school kitchens
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working in an educational kitchen is desirable
Basic knife and food preparation skills
Understanding of HACCP food safety systems
Good communication and food presentation skills
Familiarity with recipe management systems is a plus
A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to learn
This role would suit a chef with a solid foundation in kitchen work who is looking to grow and develop within a supportive team.
