Job Summary
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee the design, implementation, security, and performance of our databases in support of federal and military construction projects. This role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, availability, and optimal performance of data systems that power mission-critical estimating, project controls, and reporting functions.
The ideal candidate thrives in a high-accountability environment, understands both the technical and compliance aspects of managing government-related data, and can partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data systems enable accurate, timely, and secure decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Administration
Install, configure, and maintain database systems to support enterprise applications.
Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective database design, queries and visualizations.
Support development requirements with database design, query optimization, and stored procedure development.
Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure database systems integrate seamlessly with applications such as Primavera P6, Procore, Unifier, CMiC, or ERP systems.
Ensure database performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
Manage extensive volume of data related to operational project performance, bid activity, time and labor, and invoicing.
Develop and maintain dashboards, data extracts, and reports to support decision-making.
Manage user access, permissions, and roles in compliance with security policies and data regulations.
Ensure backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning is in place and maintained through external support providers.
Implement database maintenance plans, including indexing, patching, and performance optimization.
Ensure database systems adhere to applicable federal standards (FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP) and internal security protocols.
Manage encryption, audit logging, and vulnerability mitigation.
Conduct periodic security audits and provide reports to leadership.
Troubleshoot and resolve related application and system issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator, ideally in a government contracting or construction-related environment.
Proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning.
Experience with backup/recovery tools, high-availability solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
Strong understanding of database security best practices and federal compliance requirements.
Proven track record of collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to deliver secure, reliable data systems.
Preferred:
Experience supporting enterprise systems in a U.S. federal or military contracting environment.
Familiarity with ERP, estimating, or project controls software databases.
Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar applications.
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, or similar.
Experience with cloud-based database management (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
