Leads data analytics project teams concerning special education data under IDEA:
Acts as a lead worker by assigning tasks to junior staff and guiding IDEA Data project teams.
Assists in the development and enforcement of agency data analytics policies.
Researches and identifies complex business problems and opportunities.
Collaborates with subject matter experts, IT staff, and agency leadership to define priorities, resources, and risks.
Identifies, extracts, catalogs, and integrates data from multiple sources and systems, including agency files, shared data lakes, and external databases; ensures data validity and completeness in collaboration with IT and business experts.
Accesses databases and coordinates with stakeholders to ensure data model validity and completeness.
Applies advanced statistical and visualization techniques to identify trends and relationships in state education data.
Uses analytics methods to stimulate accountability calculations, inform policy decisions, and evaluate the impact and long-term implications of proposed changes.
Applies advanced statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, correlation, cluster analysis, classification, data mining, predictive modeling) to analyze state educational data.
Uses SAS, SQL, R, and Python to clean, transform, and manipulate large datasets from diverse sources.
Automates recurring reports and data processes using R and R Markdown.
Translates analytical results into actionable business insights aligned with agency goals.
Presents findings and recommendations to agency leaders in accessible formats for non-technical audiences; advises on program effectiveness, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
Communicates analytical findings through visualizations (charts, graphs, maps) and written reports tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Provides technical assistance and professional development opportunities (e.g., workshops/training, conference presentations) to school district staff and other external stakeholders on data interpretation and use.
Operationalizes analytics processes and coordinates with IT on deployment strategies and performance measurement.
Develops and maintains technical documentation for federal and state accountability business rules, special education indicators, and data projects.
Identifies and documents best practices in analytics and accountability data use.
Trains peers and IDEA data staff on analytics tools and techniques.
Contributes to the development of products and analyses such as Special Education Profiles, Special Education Ratings and SPP/APR reports;
Stays current with evolving state and federal law, policy, best practices, innovations and trends in educational data analytics and visualization; recommends business rule updates as needed to direct supervisor.
Collaborates with internal offices, IT teams, and external partners to implement and support policy changes.
Evaluates specialized program assistance (e.g., survey, feedback) and/or evaluates training outcomes (e.g., survey, feedback).
Develops, presents and/or provides resources for specialized program requests (e.g., respond to communications, travel to locations to conduct site visits, training, events).
Performs other related duties as assigned:

Serves on state-wide committees.
The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location full-time, if selected.
If this position is filled with an internal employee who has an approved telework agreement, the employee may be required to report in-person during the initial training period.
