Salary: Ranges $5,111.00 to $9,797.00 monthly – commensurate with experience.

Performs independent systems analysis of the Keystone Library Automation System (KLAS) database; analyzes database modules, performs debugging functions; maintains the authority control file for KLAS; serves as liaison with departmental automation personnel relative to KLAS database; makes suggestions for improvements, corrections and systems upgrades for KLAS; provides end-user support; participates in training for Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service (ISLTBBS) staff; maintains and revises lists, records and data used in reports for submittal to the National Library of Congress, local governmental officials and the TBCs; maintains and updates documentation; manages Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) through Internet web page; monitors daily backup log and notifies on-site administrator for immediate action; maintains server log-ins and permissions; acts as "help desk" in relation to same. Serves as IT Liaison to the Department of Information Technology (DOIT) on behalf of the Illinois State Library. Assist department management by serving as lead worker and attendance clerk for the division. Organizes special projects related to the KLAS circulation processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as IT Liaison for the Illinois State Library to DOIT. Assures that all IT needs (hardware, software, LAN permissions, and training) of department staff are communicated to DOIT and addressed for department operations. As requested by DOIT, assist in basic hardware and software installation and troubleshooting within the department.
Participates in the maintenance of the Keystone Library Automation System (KLAS database) by performing independent systems analysis of the database modules to identify problems; devises corrective action and notifies user to make correction; reviews completed work and accepts changes or returns to appropriate personnel for additional correction; maintains the authority control file for KLAS, in accordance with professional library standards and cataloging rules, which assures a single authorized entry or information label for uniformity within a database element which allows users to find related information at one access point
Interacts with DOIT and KLAS on technological aspects of the system by assisting with questions, maintaining log of all calls, explaining technological problems and/or to obtain clarification of procedural problems dealing with software; makes suggestions for improvements, corrections and systems upgrades for KLAS; provides end-user support to the TBC staff; may assist the LAN manager by trouble shooting hardware and UNIX problems and forwards information to appropriate ISL staff for resolution.
Maintains and revises lists, records and data used in recurring weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual reports for submittal to the National Library of Congress, local governmental officials and the TBCs; runs additional reports as requested.
Maintains and updates documentation related to procedures, activity logs, statistics, required reference manuals, menus, back up, execution reports, etc. relative to circulation systems, KLAS, etc. Organizes and performs federal XESS inventory procedure.
Manages Online Public Access Catalog through Internet web page by adding/changing passwords and personal identification numbers; monitors daily backup log and notifies on-site administrator for immediate action; maintains server log-ins and permissions; acts as "help desk" in relation to same. Monitors professional list servers.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.Education and Experience:
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of one year of college, with coursework in the computer science field OR 1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation.
Requires elementary knowledge of hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical support services.
Requires elementary knowledge of accounting and statistical theories, methods and practices.
Requires working knowledge of the devices for capturing data and the means available for receiving and transmitting data from remote locations to a computer.
Requires working knowledge of the principles and techniques of computer system documentation.
Requires ability to effectively participate in and profit from formal and in-service training programs.
Requires ability to analyze data logically.
Requires ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with others.
Requires the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and to carry out routine operations, once established, without further instructions.
Requires sufficient oral and written communication skills for effective engagement with colleagues and internal users/customers.
Requires awareness and adherence to organizational standards for security, privacy and ethics.
