Position Summary:

Grant's Steel Sash Door & Hardware, Inc. is seeking a meticulous, organized, and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Estimator & Administrative Support person. This crucial dual role involves accurately estimating costs for door and hardware projects while providing comprehensive administrative assistance to ensure the smooth operation of our office and sales processes. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of commercial door and hardware specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating (Approximately 60-70% of time):

Review blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents related to commercial doors, frames, and hardware.

Accurately quantify materials (hollow metal doors, wood doors, frames, various hardware components), labor, and any associated costs for bid preparation.

Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and ensure product availability.

Prepare detailed, clear, and competitive proposals and bids for clients, ensuring all project requirements and specifications are met.

Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, project documentation, and supplier quotes.

Follow up on submitted bids and communicate effectively with clients and the sales team.

Stay current with industry standards, product innovations, and pricing trends in commercial doors and hardware.

Administrative Support (Approximately 30-40% of time):

Provide comprehensive administrative support for the office, including managing incoming calls, emails, and general correspondence.

Maintain and organize physical and digital filing systems for project documents, vendor information, and customer records.

Assist with scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and managing office calendars.

Prepare and format various business documents, such as sales orders, purchase orders, invoices, and reports.

Manage office supplies inventory and place orders as needed.

Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks, including processing accounts payable and receivable as required.

Support the sales team with document preparation, customer inquiries, and order processing.

Perform other administrative duties to ensure efficient daily operations.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Construction Management, Business Administration) is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum of [e.g., 2-3] years of experience in an estimating or construction management role within the construction, building materials, or architectural products industry, specifically with doors and hardware, is highly preferred.

Minimum of [e.g., 1-2] years of administrative support experience in a professional office environment.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints, door schedules, and hardware specifications.

Strong proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Experience with estimating software or ERP systems used in the construction/building materials industry is a significant advantage.
