Description

The Network & Systems Administrator provides the highest level of tech support including, planning, deploying, troubleshooting and maintenance in all aspects of the infrastructure environment. The Network & Systems Administrator will be required to perform entry level to complex technical and administrative tasks.

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties

Ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure

Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues

Collecting and analyzing data to forecast infrastructure system needs before issues arise

Identifying issues and implementing plans for remediation before the issues negatively impact the business

Performing Active Directory, Intune, SharePoint and Office 365 Administration tasks

Performing Software Updates (Windows and other 3rd party software)

Installing and configuring software and hardware on physical and virtual systems.

The ability to read and write instructions, see, hear, operate a computer, comprehend, and then carry out directives when instructed

Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position

Evaluates, recommends, implements, and ensures systems security

Configures, maintains and manages network security features for networked servers

Configures, monitors and maintains firewall to ensure network and systems integrity

Ensures proper system backups are made and stored

Prepares client, operations, and systems documentation according to pre-established standards

Training and assist staff in the use of the system software

Setup of user permissions, security classes, installing of patches.

Available to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, and to provide after-hours support when needed.

The ability to work on-site

Predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance

Conducts customization and system administration tasks for network management, task/project management, help desk, workgroup integration, documentation, and educational software packages across local area networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs).

Analyzes, recommends, and evaluates new hardware, software and communications products for network compatibility and applicability

Performs advanced diagnostics and maintenance on desktop devices when additional expertise is required

Keeps current on new developments and techniques in the field of information technology

Assists IT management with development of systems standards, short and long-term goals, project management and strategic directions

Additional duties as assigned by the VP Information Technology / CIO.Supervisory Responsibilities

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field

At least 3 years of experience in the Information Technology field

or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience Licenses and Certificates:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure, Microsoft Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services, and CompTIA Linux+ certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.

Industry certifications that demonstrate proficiency with Enterprise I.T. Infrastructure such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc. are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficient with Computer and Server Operating Systems in a virtual machine environment

Proficient with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of virtual computer systems

Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows, Linux Server Operating Systems

Extensive knowledge and experience with Active Directory, GPO’s, and security groups

Extensive knowledge and experience with storage and virtual machines

Monitoring, working tickets in the ticketing system and seeing them through to completion

‘How to’ documentation of Infrastructure procedures

Handling emergent issues as they arise

Server setup, deployment and maintenance

Windows workstation and server patching

Office 365, Intune, Deploy, SharePoint, WordPress, Mobile App and JAMF administration and maintenance

Major System Component Installations

Storage Administration

Windows, Linux and VMWare Administration

Backup and Data Retention activities

Assisting vendors and other 3rd parties with implementation of any professional service installations

This job requires frequent talking or hearing, standing, sitting, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and gripping or feeling with hands, typing/repetitive movement; occasional climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, occasionally sitting. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment. Regular work week: Some evening work required.
