As the Network Operations Specialist, the individual focuses on successful operations and maintenance of the Software Defined Networking (SDN), Out of Band Management (OoBM), Communications Infrastructure Alarm and Management System (CIAMS), and Transport. In this role, the Network Operations Specialist, will support reporting of issues in the Master Station Log (MSL), performs Preventative Maintenance, Checks and Services (PMCS) activities and participates in Quality Control, Special Projects, and 24/7 on call support.
Responsibilities:
Network planning, implementation, and management
Provides network support with a variety of operating systems and OEMs
Installs and configures network equipment (i.e., routers, switches, bridges, etc.)
Maintains network connectivity of all workstations, servers, wireless devices, etc
Provides network support to users, including VPN support and remote access
Maintains associated hardware, applications, services, and settings
Develops and monitors policies for the use of network resources
Implements and manages disaster recovery and back-up plans
Evaluates and recommends security improvements and system upgrades
Monitors network to ensure optimal performance, using SolarWinds
Creates and maintains network users/permissions
Tests release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
Creates technical support documentation for systems and applications
Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:
BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science or 5 years’ experience in lieu of degree
Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance
CCNA certification or Juniper Equivalent and TCF Site
Must have fundamental knowledge of networking concepts
Proven network operations, and network performance analysis skills
Prior hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Previous knowledge of IT infrastructures
Familiarity with Network management and monitoring tools
Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Proficiency with scripting languages
Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues
Previous experience with CISCO and/or Juniper Routers & switches
Ability to mitigate the disruption of transport equipment
