COSMETIC AND LASER DERMATOLOGY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT OR NURSE PRACTITIONER

Location: Chevy Chase, MD 20815

Position type: Part- to full-time

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PA or NP to join our cosmetic and laser dermatology practice to provide high quality patient care to our sophisticated clientele to maintain/improve their appearance and confidence through the most advanced procedures and techniques (general dermatology patients are not our primary patient base). As a key member of our team, you will assist in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of skin conditions, with a focus on cosmetic dermatologic procedures (dermal fillers and neuromodulators) and cutaneous laser and energy-based device treatments.

The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical knowledge and cosmetic dermatology experience; excellent interpersonal, communication, and marketing skills; and a passion for aesthetics and skincare. Please do not apply unless you satisfy all criteria described below.

Primary Responsibilities:

Laser & Aesthetic Procedures

Perform laser and other energy-based treatments according to laser safety regulations and standard of care guidelines

Provide advanced facial contouring using dermal fillers, neuromodulators and ultrasound according to specific West Institute protocols

Patient Assessment and Care:

Conduct initial patient consultations to assess cosmetic concerns including skin type, medical history and treatment goals

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans after subjective and objective assessment

Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress post-treatment

Educate patients on skincare regimens, pre- and post-treatment care, and lifestyle changes for optimal skin health

Capture standard, reproducible medical-quality photographs of patients’ treatment areas pre- and post-treatment

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with physician(s) and other medical professionals, our in-house brand manager and social media director, and administrative staff to provide a comprehensive approach to patient care

Participate in staff meetings and contribute to marketing strategies including creation of social media postings and website content

Maintain up-to-date techniques and best practices based on meetings/literature (SDPA) as well as webinars and other educational opportunities

Clinical Documentation & Patient Management

Maintain accurate and up-to-date written patient non-EMR records using standard West Institute protocols and forms

Document all patient encounters, treatments and outcomes following industry standards and West Institute protocols

Patient Care & Safety

Ensure that all procedures are performed safely, with a thorough understanding of potential side effects and complications

Provide emotional support and maintain a patient-centered approach to care

Ongoing Learning & Development

Stay up to date with the latest cosmetic dermatology trends, technology and research

Attend workshops, training sessions and conferences to further develop expertise in cosmetic dermatology and laser treatments

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or an M.S.N. or D.N.P. in Nursing Studies from an accredited program

Current active state-issued Maryland PA or NP license

Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board or the American Nurses Credentialing Center

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

* Other certifications or advanced training in cosmetic procedures (neuromodulators, fillers, lasers) strongly preferred

Required Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cosmetic dermatology

Experience with cosmetic (and medical) dermatologic procedures including dermal fillers and neuromodulators, volume replacement/facial balancing, laser treatments

Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of dermatologic conditions, treatments, and cosmetic procedures

Proficiency with medical laser equipment and non-invasive aesthetic treatments

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and marketing skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with patients and staff

Ability to work well in a fast-paced collaborative, team-oriented environment
