Compensation:

$22.84 – $26.59/hour depending on experience and skills

Orchid Health clinics serve Oregon’s highest need areas when it comes to healthcare, and taking this position will be making a huge difference in a community that truly needs and appreciates its healthcare providers.

The schedule for this position has the option of: Monday – Friday (8 hours shifts) or Tuesday - Friday (10 hour shifts)

Responsibilities:

Accurately analyze and code primary care charts. Code dental/mental health charts once trained

Follow coding requirements as mandated by federal and state law

Understand and carry out Orchid-specific coding requirements to satisfy certified Rural Health Clinic, certified School-Based Health Clinic, Vaccines for Children specifications, and other certifications/requirements as needed

Be available to answer coding/charting questions daily from owners, providers, and staff as needed

Complete chart coding within five days of the date of service

Analyze and respond to patient billing inquiries in a professional, positive manner

Post patient and insurance payer payments to patient accounts

Contact and collect outstanding payments from patients as needed. Arrange payment plans when necessary

Perform billing audits to analyze the accuracy of our billing partners once trained

Solve problems related to internal insurance billing

Audit medical charting to ensure the medical team is charting the correct level of work performed

Monitor and fix chart errors as indicated in the EHR system

Learn, understand, and navigate computers and software necessary to carry out responsibilities

Analyze and input medical records as needed from time to time

Required Qualifications:

Terrific communication skills, impeccable integrity, and the ability to work well with our team are required

Conduct yourself with compassion and professionalism when interacting with patients

Understand and uphold the Commitment to Co-worker Agreement

Maintain a calm, professional, and respectful demeanor when on and off-site in an often stressful medical environment

Ask questions and thoroughly communicate with staff and supervisors

Adapt performance as needed based on constructive feedback

RHC Coding (preferred)

Education and Experience:

Certification in coding ICD-10 proficiency and CPT II proficiency

At least 6-months to one year of experience as a Medical Coder

Those with SBHC and/or RHC coding experience are preferred

Work Environment:

While in the clinic, team members may be exposed to viruses, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in the working environment. Team members may be required to work for extended periods of time at a computer. Team members use standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, and e-fax.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Computer work is required for remote positions. Light to moderate lifting may be required.

Travel:

Training will be held in person at our office in Damascus, OR. A minimum of 1-2 clinic visits per year, plus in-person meetings and events as needed.
