Fire Safety Surveyor : Long:Term Contract Location: West London Borough (Mainly on:site; some office and home working flexibility) Pay Rate: GBP 350 per day (Umbrella) Assignment: Ongoing, long:term Department: Economy : Property and Compliance Reporting to: Senior Fire Safety Surveyor About the Role Red Personnel is seeking an accomplished Fire Safety Surveyor to join our public sector client's Property and Compliance Team.

You'll play a vital role in ensuring the borough's housing stock is inspected, managed, and maintained in full compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and related Health and Safety laws.

This position offers the opportunity to combine expert fire risk assessment with strategic advisory responsibilities, stakeholder engagement, and quality assurance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across housing and community facilities.

Proactively identify fire:related risks, issue contractors' orders, and ensure timely completion of remedial works.

Develop, maintain, and manage FRA inspection schedules and undertake regular desktop reviews to uphold compliance.

Execute quality assurance checks on FRAs conducted by external contractors.

Monitor contractor performance-inspecting completed works and enforcing accountability for non:compliance.

Draft specifications for fire safety projects and works that conform to statutory requirements and best practice.

Regularly inspect communal areas and fire signage to ensure safe, obstruction:free environments.

Collaborate with the London Fire Brigade, supporting audits, joint inspections, and addressing enforcement notices.

Candidate Profile Essential Skills and Experience: Proven expertise as a Fire Safety Surveyor (or equivalent) within housing, local authority, or property services environments.

Thorough understanding of UK fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Building Regulations, and Health and Safety frameworks.

Strong background in conducting and managing FRAs, including contractor supervision and quality assurance.

Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to engage all levels of stakeholders, from residents to regulatory bodies.

Demonstrated ability to write in:depth technical reports and act as an expert witness when required.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping current with evolving legislation and industry best practice.

Additional Requirements: Full:time, with a focus on site visits throughout West London Borough's housing portfolio; flexible office/remote working by agreement.

Willingness to participate in council emergency response when needed.
