We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Solutions Engineer to manage and enhance our data infrastructure. We have an existing estate of both modernized structures, including Azure Synapse Serverless, Databricks, combined with legacy systems such as SQL Server, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive expertise in these technologies and ensure the stability, efficiency, and scalability of our data solutions. However, we are open to candidates who excel in either the newer Azure data services or have a strong foundation in traditional Microsoft SQL methodologies.
As we explore potential integrations with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), this role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a strategic cloud transformation effort. A key component of our Azure environment is an internal Nordic BI solution, and your role will involve understanding our current BI data warehouse and data models to contribute to the future of our BI evolution.
You will be part of a global team within WPP Enterprise Technology, working in the Business Platform. This position will be based in our WPP hub office in Copenhagen and will focus on serving the Nordic region.
What you'll be doing:
Manage and maintain cloud-based and legacy data systems, ensuring optimal data organization, storage efficiency, and accessibility.
Operate and support legacy systems, including SQL Server, Analysis Services, and Integration Services, as well as develop and maintain data processing workflows using Synapse Serverless and Databricks.
Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving data processing issues, aiming for minimal downtime and continuous service improvement.
Monitor and analyze data systems' performance, implementing advanced tuning and optimization strategies as needed.
Document existing and new data architectures, processes, and changes for continuous improvement and future reference.
Stay informed about the latest developments in Azure data solutions and legacy technologies to drive innovation in our data strategy.
Optionally, assist in evaluating potential migrations or integrations with GCP, leveraging knowledge of cross-cloud data transformation strategies.
What you'll need:
Higher education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience managing data solutions with Azure Synapse, Databricks, and legacy systems like SQL Server, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with data pipeline frameworks and ETL processes.
Experience with cloud-based and legacy data security and compliance best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its data services.
Relevant certifications in Azure or legacy technologies like SQL Server.
Experience with data migration and cloud transformation projects.
