The Role
The role of Full-Time Underwriter, Underwriting & Claims Services, Protection, APAC is primarily focused on delivering high-quality case underwriting assessments, with a specific emphasis on supporting our business in India. This role sits within the Asia Underwriting & Claims team and is based in Singapore.
This is a full-time position and is well-suited for candidates seeking flexible engagement while contributing meaningfully to our India portfolio.
Given the market focus, prior experience or familiarity with the Indian insurance industry and its underwriting practices will be considered an advantage.
As the role involves working closely with stakeholders in India, the ability to work flexible hours aligned with the India time zone is essential. While specific working hours will be mutually agreed upon during the onboarding process, the successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness and ability to adjust their availability to meet business needs in India.
Duties
Provide high-quality assessments of client referrals in line with agreed risk philosophies, exercising judgment to ensure work is conducted within SLAs. This includes approving referrals that exceed the assessor's delegated authority.
Continuously challenge current practices and improve processes and documentation.
Leverage all aspects of Chorus (PLRe’s UWC case assessment system), including portal and cross-regional working, to further optimise underwriting and claims activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience working in a life underwriting and claims department in an insurance (or preferably) a reinsurance company environment
Experience handling underwriting for all major products.
Competent user status for MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook or similar e-mail product.
Good working knowledge of Life insurance industry regulations.
