What we need:

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Natural Resources Dispatcher 1 within the Division of Law Enforcement, headquartered at Fountain Square, assigned to Franklin County. What you will do…

Receive training on & operate statewide computer aided dispatch (CAD) console with statewide high band and 800 MHz radio system (Multi-Agency Radio Communications System [MARCS]) and data network and facilitate law enforcement and administrative communication

Serve as point of contact in emergency situations (e.g., monitor law enforcement automated data system [LEADS] for incoming information, contact appropriate personnel, transmit emergency determinations, receive and transmit all messages)

Operate radio and/or related equipment (e.g., teletype communications [electronic messages, texts, etc.], multi-line telephone, LEADS) in order to make inquiries, receive and send messages on teletype, provide documentation pertinent to law enforcement activities of ODNR

Receive, route and assist public and other agencies with requests for information on telephone; direct phone inquiries to proper ODNR division or make after hours contact with proper personnel

This position falls under the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule. The starting rate is a Pay Range 28, step 1 which is $22.96/per hour. New hires will move to a Pay Range 28 step 2, which is $23.56/per hour after six months. Upon successful completion of a 365-day classification probationary period, the employee will be reassigned to a Natural Resources Dispatcher 2, and move into a Pay Range 29, step 2, ($24.86/hour) & receive increases annually up to an ending salary of $30.55/per hour.

There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates OCSEA Employees Department of Administrative Services.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary AND 6 mos. trg or 6 mos. exp in 2-way radio AND teletype communications AND computer terminal AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, operating a personal computer AND word processing AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Applicant must successfully pass a Departmental criminal background investigation including fingerprint & polygraph.
