Job Description: DevSecOps Engineer (Remote – Government Client)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer to support a federal government client in designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and automated cloud-native environments. The engineer will play a critical role in implementing DevSecOps practices, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring compliance with federal standards while enabling efficient delivery of mission-critical applications. This is a remote position requiring proven expertise in cloud, automation, and security within federal environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes and Docker-based containerized environments.

Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent, integrating automated testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks.

Manage and optimize AWS cloud services for secure and scalable solutions in line with federal security guidelines (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA).

Partner with development teams using Java Spring Boot, React, and Ruby on Rails to embed secure coding practices and improve pipeline efficiency.

Administer and secure Linux environments, including patching, configuration, and system hardening.

Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch, and other observability tools to detect and respond to incidents in real-time.

Collaborate with security teams to enforce IAM policies, secrets management, and compliance frameworks.

Support audits, documentation, and compliance efforts ensuring government security standards are met.

Continuously evaluate emerging tools and processes to strengthen DevSecOps practices.

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Client (no exceptions).

6+ years of experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

6+ years of experience with AWS cloud services in secure enterprise environments.

6+ years of experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC tools.

Strong proficiency with Linux administration and security hardening.

Hands-on experience developing and deploying with Java Spring Boot, React, and Ruby on Rails.

3+ years of experience with CI/CD automation using Jenkins and Harness (with knowledge of modern equivalents).

Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk and New Relic.

Knowledge of security frameworks and federal compliance requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA).

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently in a remote environment.

Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles.

Prior experience supporting federal government IT modernization projects.

Active Public Trust or higher clearance.
