About the Role:

The Occupational Therapist will play a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for patients by developing and implementing personalized therapeutic interventions that promote independence and functional ability. This position focuses on assessing patients with a variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges, including those recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and orthopedic conditions. The therapist will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to design rehabilitation plans that address sensory integration and geriatric rehabilitation needs. By utilizing evidence-based practices, the Occupational Therapist will support patients in regaining skills necessary for daily living and work activities. Ultimately, this role aims to empower patients to achieve their highest level of autonomy and improve their overall well-being within the South Central Place community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

Valid and current state licensure or certification to practice as an Occupational Therapist.

Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation settings, including working with patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, or orthopedic conditions.

Strong knowledge of sensory integration techniques and geriatric rehabilitation principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced certification or specialization in neurological rehabilitation or pediatric occupational therapy.

Experience working with cerebral palsy patients and other developmental disorders.

Familiarity with the latest assistive technology and adaptive equipment used in occupational therapy.

Training in physical therapy techniques to complement occupational therapy interventions.

Experience in community-based rehabilitation programs or outpatient clinical settings.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate physical, cognitive, and emotional capabilities and limitations.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans targeting rehabilitation goals such as mobility, sensory integration, and daily living skills.

Collaborate with physical therapists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize rehabilitation outcomes.

Monitor patient progress and adjust therapeutic interventions as needed to ensure effective recovery and functional improvement.

Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to support ongoing rehabilitation at home.

Skills:

The required skills such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Rehabilitation are applied daily to assess patient needs and design comprehensive treatment plans that address both physical and cognitive challenges. Expertise in Geriatric Rehabilitation and Stroke Rehabilitation enables the therapist to tailor interventions for older adults and those recovering from neurological events, ensuring targeted and effective care. Knowledge of Cerebral Palsy and Sensory Integration techniques allows the therapist to support patients with developmental and sensory processing difficulties, enhancing their functional abilities. Orthopedic Rehabilitation skills are essential for managing musculoskeletal injuries and post-surgical recovery, facilitating patients' return to daily activities. Additionally, the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively ensures that therapeutic goals are aligned and patient progress is consistently monitored and optimized.
