Job Summary:
This position is located in the District of Columbia Government (District), DC Health (DOH), Center for Policy, Planning, and Evaluation (CPPE), Health Informatics Program/Division of Health Information Systems (HIS). The incumbent will serve as a Data Analyst under the purview of the Health Informatics Program Manager. The incumbent manages data products within DOH health systems and supports their integration across federal and local partner systems. They oversee software platforms that enable maintenance, visualization, and dissemination. Furthermore, the incumbent analyzes, recommends, and implements enterprise data solutions to support the modernization of health systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, the incumbent will support the Division of Health Information Systems by transforming data from public health information systems into actionable insights through the development of dashboards, recurring reports, ad hoc reports, and data validation tools. They will be responsible for producing and maintaining reports on program-level and up to agency-wide HIS data; supporting data quality initiatives by developing completeness and validation metrics; and promoting system transparency through the maintenance of the HIS data dictionary and system-specific data catalogs.
The analyst will contribute to system performance monitoring, support the development of reports and dashboards for key performance indicators (KPIs), and complete activities related to grant deliverables, including the visualization of performance measures and metrics aligned with grant reporting requirements. They will also recommend improvements to data structures and reporting processes that enhance accuracy, interoperability, and efficiency. They will work closely with the Informatics Manager to present findings, communicate trends, and identify system-level opportunities. The role will also support onboarding and training by developing materials that strengthen programs capacity and ensure data consistency across programs.
Qualifications and Education
Required Qualifications: Ind ividuals must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Master's level degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics is preferred. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
