JOB TITLE: Child Development Coach (0-5) DEPT: Early Learning Division
REPORTS TO: Child Development Component Manager FLSA: Non-exempt
SALARY RANGE: Grade 4 AVAILABLE SALARY:
Job summary: Responsible for coaching, modeling, mentoring, and training of education staff to support school readiness measures and program quality. To observe and provide ongoing coaching and technical assistance to assigned classrooms and education staff. Support effective teaching practices that lead to positive outcomes for children. Complete reports based on funding criteria and ensured classroom compliance with applicable Performance Standards.
Children supervision responsibility: Responsible for the oversight of child supervision and for keeping children safe.
Essential Functions:
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teaching teams designed to improve teacher/child interactions and curriculum implementation that support positive child outcomes.
Provide technical support and assistance to classroom teachers as assigned, including direct coaching and mentoring of education staff to improve instructional practices and classroom quality.
Provide regular classroom observations using the specified evidence-based tools (ex., CLASS, Environmental Needs Assessment, etc.).
Assist with the planning and monitoring of the child development component.
Prepare all necessary reports, including monthly monitoring reports, coaching logs, and other reports as needed.
Implementation and utilization of the Relationship-Based Coaching cycle (Practice-Based Coaching) components for reflection and feedback in order to set goals and develop action plans.
Provides follow-up support to staff following any form of training to increase the implementation of information and the transfer of skills into practice.
Facilitate child development training to meet compliance or enhance classroom performance.
Monitor completion of children’s Home visits, Individual Plans, Assessments, Learning Experience Plans, File Reviews, and Developmental contacts, etc.
Develop and provide Professional Development training for staff as needed.
Participate as a member of the Child Development team and attend meetings.
Attend workshops, conferences, and other necessary trainings designed to support component goals.
All other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of two years of management experience in ECE or non-ECE Bachelor’s with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of two years of management experience in ECE.
or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of two years of management experience in ECE or a non-ECE Master’s with at least 12 credits in ECE and at least one year of management experience in ECE.
Knowledge and experience in data collection and information processes and systems, along with knowledge of childcare regulations, policy, and procedure compliance.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of various processes, including database management, spreadsheets, word processing, the internet, and email.
Must obtain knowledge of Federal Head Start ERSEA Performance Standards, philosophy, and mission.
Must have a valid CT driver’s license with a good driving record and willingness to travel.
