JOB DESCRIPTION

RN - Labor & Delivery

● About Facility:

How many licensed beds? 345

Trauma Designation? Level 2 ER, Level 3 NICU

Teaching Hospital? Yes

● Unit Information:

o Beds: 10 LD and 4 bed Triage

Census? 180-200 deliveries a month

o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o Labor & Delivery – discussed during interview with Manager

● Patient Ratios:

o RN: 1:2 or 1:3 triage

● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

o ACLS, BLS, NRP, Intermediate fetal monitoring

● Skills required:

o IV start, circulating in OR, labor experience

● Support within the Department:

o Receptionist/HUC

o Charge nurse

o Phlebotomy

o Resource Nurse

o RT 24/7

o Physician Coverage, 24/7

● Technology/Equipment:

o EMR: EPIC

o IV Pump: Hospira

o Med dispensing: Omnicell

o Monitors: Philips

o Unit specific equipment:

● Orientation (facility and unit):

o Dependent on skillset and comfort level

● Other notes:

o Scrub Color: Provided on unit

o Parking: Free
