Position Summary:

The Cisco Network Architect will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of a large-scale Re-IP and network migration project across multiple sites. This role requires strategic thinking, deep technical expertise in Cisco networking solutions, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable and secure network designs.

This is a remote position with up to 20% travel to project sites. Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug screening, and must hold a valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the architecture and design of network infrastructure across 30+ sites, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

Develop detailed migration strategies for VLAN redesign, DHCP scope updates, trunking adjustments, and firewall rule modifications.

Integrate IPAM (EfficientIP) and coordinate with teams to update documentation and device inventories.

Provide guidance and oversight during cutover events, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.

Collaborate with project managers, mid-level engineers, field coordinators, and executive stakeholders to align technical plans with project objectives.

Evaluate network performance, identify optimization opportunities, and recommend upgrades or reconfigurations.

Maintain current knowledge of Cisco solutions, including SD-WAN (Viptela), Catalyst switches, and security products.

Required Skills & Competencies

Expert-level knowledge of Cisco enterprise networking (Catalyst 9200/9300/9400 series, Cisco SD-WAN/Viptela).

Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLAN architecture, DHCP, DNS, and VPN technologies.

Experience with firewall technologies (Palo Alto preferred).

Proficiency in network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible) is a plus.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; able to present complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Cisco certifications: CCNP or CCIE preferred.

8+ years in network engineering/architecture, with at least 3 years in a lead or architect role.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Must pass a police background check and drug screening prior to employment.
