Our client, an exploration and production company are currently recruiting for a Cost Engineer. Based in Aberdeen, the role will be on a 12 month contract and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

ROLE

The Wells Cost Controller Engineer provides cost control support to the Well Operations team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement and maintain a complete well cost accounting control procedure for the company Wells and Intervention department

Support the Wells department AFE/high level budget procedures

Create individual Well AFE estimates in conjunction with engineers

Monthly overview and review of issues with Head of Wells

Weekly overview and review of costs with Well Superintendents

Stock and logistics management

Ability to constructively challenge and guide the Wells team with regard to costs

Ensure estimated final well cost is within +/- 5% of actual well cost

Ensure that cost commitment and forecast expenditure is reported on a daily basis during drilling operations and ensuring that all information is accurately and correctly inputted

Ensure that all AP issues are corrected in a timely manner

Ensure that all vendor queries are corrected and challenge quotes

Ensure key vendors provide regular cost reports

Maintain a robust savings register

Check and record correct allocations of shared or common costs

Check vendor invoices are complete, contract compliant and coded correctly

Work and manage external companies when activities are outsourced - ensuring they adhere to SE standards and guidelines

Investment tracking and review

Well forecasts UK

Working to all associated Cost Control procedures and processes

AFE tracking and maintenance in SAP

Finance support to upstream functions

Provide support to the Business Finance Planning and Reporting team

Provide internal training to other teams

JV audit process for wells

Completion well reconciliations - ensuring that any variances are identified, investigated and resolved

REQUIREMENTS

Ability to take the initiative and to work autonomously

Strong technical accounting skills

Analytical and systematic approach with an eye for detail

Open and effective communicator

Relevant degree within accounting or appropriate and verifiable experience within the role at a similar E&P company

Upstream value chain experience
