Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and assertive Controller to join our dynamic team. The Controller will be a key leader in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic guidance to support the company’s growth and financial health.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Drive professional development initiatives to enhance team capabilities.

Financial Reporting: Produce accurate and timely financial statements to facilitate informed decision-making, ensuring that the finance team adheres to high standards of quality and efficiency.

Risk Management: Institute effective programs and controls to protect company assets, proactively identify potential losses due to theft or mistakes, and ensure reliable reporting of costs of goods sold and sales margins.

Cost Control: Implement and maintain a standard cost system; ensure the accuracy of build plans and standard costs, complete monthly variance analysis, and maintain accurate inventory records.

Strategic Financial Planning: Lead financial planning efforts, including sales, cost, profit, balance sheet, and cash flow budgets and forecasts. Justify and control capital expenditures with a focus on return on investment.

Cash Flow Management: Control cash flow by actively collecting payments from customers, monitoring accounts receivable, and managing vendor payments and relationships assertively to ensure timely transactions.

Compliance Oversight: Oversee annual audits, regulatory agency reports, and develop strong relationships with financial institutions, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations.

Operational Excellence: Ensure adherence to purchasing practices, PO procedures, and accurate recording of PO receipts, while ensuring departments operate within budget constraints.

Vendor and Service Management: Enforce compliance with outside service procedures for legal and accounting services, ensuring that these relationships are managed effectively.

Annual Financial Responsibilities: Manage annual tasks including audits, tax returns, bank line renewals, and insurance renewals with diligence and attention to detail.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA required.

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations, particularly California-specific requirements.

Proven experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to assertively present information and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a strong track record of managing and developing finance teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a must.Company Description
