Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, introduction, and ongoing production of AIS products by designing, optimizing, and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes. This role serves as the bridge between product design and production operations, ensuring products are manufacturable, reliable, and cost-effective. The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and mechatronic systems, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), continuous improvement, and troubleshooting of production challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to support NPI and ongoing production.

Partner with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and compliance with product requirements.

Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, assembly procedures, and tooling requirements.

Identify, evaluate, and implement improvements to reduce cost, improve quality, and increase efficiency.

Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting production equipment, test systems, and product assembly issues.

Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) and Non-Conforming Material (NCM) processes; support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA/CAPA).

Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and transition to full-rate production.

Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure products meet industry standards and customer expectations.

Lead or participate in Lean/continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide technical training and support for production operators and technicians.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

25 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Experience supporting both product development and production operations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., PCB assembly, machining, wiring, electromechanical assembly).

Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with eCAD preferred.

Hands-on experience with diagnostic and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, calipers, torque tools, etc.).

Knowledge of Lean principles, DFM/DFA, and continuous improvement practices.

Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, or mechatronic systems.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Desired

Experience in NPI environments and supporting full product lifecycle.

Familiarity with automated manufacturing and test equipment.

Exposure to regulatory/agency standards (UL, RoHS, IPC, ISO).

Knowledge of robotics, motion control, or AR/VR system integration a plus.

Working Conditions

Combination of office and production floor environment.

May require occasional extended hours to meet critical program deadlines.
