Position Overview:
Jain International Residential School (JIRS) is seeking a passionate and qualified Career Counselor
to join our dedicated academic team. This role is ideal for professionals who are committed to student development and are eager to guide students toward successful academic and career pathways, both in India and abroad.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Guidance and Counseling
Provide personalized career counseling based on students’ academic performance, interests,
and aspirations.
Assist in stream selection (Science, Commerce, Humanities, Arts, Sports, Languages) and
career planning.
Educate students on entrance exams and eligibility for higher studies in India (JEE, NEET,
CUET, etc.) and abroad (SAT, ACT, IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).
2. University and Course Selection
Research and recommend suitable universities and courses in India and internationally (USA,
UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Germany, UAE, etc.).
Stay updated on admission criteria, application deadlines, scholarships, and visa processes.
Help students shortlist institutions based on profiles, preferences, and financial
considerations.
3. Application Process Support
Guide students in preparing compelling applications, including SOPs, LORs, resumes, and
essays.
Assist with scholarship and financial aid applications.
Conduct mock interviews and provide personalized feedback.
4. Test Preparation Guidance
Advise on standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, etc.
Recommend trusted coaching centers, online resources, and track preparation progress.
Motivate students to meet their test goals.
5. Proficiency in Online Application Platforms
Provide hands-on guidance with platforms such as:
o Common App, UCAS, Coalition App, ApplyTexas, and university-specific portals.
o Naviance (for transcripts and school profiles), College Board (for SAT/AP score
submissions).
Support students in every step of the online application process and ensure timely, accurate
submissions.
6. Workshops and Seminars
Organize awareness sessions for students and parents on higher education and career
opportunities.
Collaborate with academic staff to deliver career awareness programs.
7. Parental Counseling
Address parental concerns on career planning, financial investment, and overseas education.
Provide clear insights into Return on Investment (ROI) for various universities and courses.
8. Staying Updated
Keep track of evolving trends in Indian and international education.
Build relationships with university representatives and attend education fairs to stay informed.
9. Documentation and Follow-Up
Maintain detailed records of student counseling sessions, application progress, and
outcomes.
Ensure consistent follow-ups with students and universities to facilitate a smooth admissions
process.
10. Key Coordination
Collaborate closely with:
o JIRS Admission Marketing Team
o Academic Heads during admission interviews
Skills and Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of Indian and international education systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with career assessment tools and online application platforms.
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
