JOB TITLE: Family Nurse Practitioner

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Exempt

Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer

JOB SUMMARY: The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides patient centered, evidence-based care for patients across the lifespan. They provide care in collaboration with an integrated health care team. The FNP provides care for patients across the lifespan. They provide care in collaboration with an integrated health care team. The FNP obtains medical histories and perform physical assessments; orders appropriate and cost-efficient diagnostic tests; provides management or other appropriate treatment; consults with team members as appropriate; provides appropriate follow-up care or referral; performs assigned special procedures; documents all patient care and advice given; enters billing codes; provides health maintenance and disease management counseling to patients; develops and/or implement plans for health promotion and maintains competency in accordance with the age specific needs of the patient.

Policy adherence & compliance champion: Strictly adhere to all Spectra Health policies and procedures, and act as a departmental advocate for Spectra Health's Compliance Program activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform health histories, physical examinations, and assessments for all ages of patients.

Order and evaluate laboratory tests, x-rays, diagnostic studies.

Initiate treatment and management of acute and chronic physical or mental health problems for patients of all ages.

Prescribe and/or dispense medications and/or prescriptive devices for patients.

Conduct client education for health problems, including anticipatory guidance, and health maintenance.

Perform follow-up on abnormal laboratory tests, x-ray, and diagnostic studies.

Collaborate with Spectra Health interprofessional team to provide quality care to patients.

Consult with and refer to other services within the clinic or to other agencies as needed.

Utilize current evidence in the provision of care.

Participate in planning and instituting health care programs as a peer member of the health care team.

Participate as able in teaching programs by acting as a preceptor to NP/PA/MD students.

Participate as an active member of patient care and other clinic committees.

Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Certified in area of specialty by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center or American Association of Nurse Practitioners

Active and unencumbered licensed as nurse practitioner in North Dakota and Minnesota

Nurse Practitioners must have or be able to obtain DEA registration if required.

CPR/BLS certification is required or must be obtained within six (6) weeks of employment.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook. Ability to work on local desktop and in remote desktop sessions. Basic computer hardware knowledge. Ability to gain proficiency in Spectra Health's organizational software programs including but not limited to electronic medical or dental records, practice management systems, QuickBooks, and multiple web-site accounts.

Preferred:

Previous experience in primary care.

Previous experience in behavioral health or integrated care settings.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical setting and requires some hands-on patient care. OSHA category: High risk. Job requires performance of tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Family Nurse Practitioner position is a clinical setting that would require long periods of time on one's feet, standing and moving throughout the clinical environment. Periodically, the position requires stooping, bending and lifting or carrying items that would be appropriate in an office environment, not more than 50 pounds.
