We are looking for an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to join our client's team in a 100% Remote role. This Contract to permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to manage, optimize, and maintain critical database environments within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of DB2 z/OS systems, ensuring their security, performance, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain complex DB2 z/OS database systems to support business-critical applications.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute advanced tuning strategies to optimize efficiency.
• Implement and oversee backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Collaborate with developers, system architects, and IT leadership to enforce database security policies and best practices.
• Automate administrative tasks to streamline database management and reduce manual effort.
• Lead efforts in capacity planning and forecasting for database growth and infrastructure needs.
• Provide mentorship to entry-level DBAs and contribute to strategic decisions regarding database architecture.
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Recommend and implement significant changes to database design, collaborating with senior leadership for approval.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data in case of emergencies.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in database administration.
• Expertise in DB2 z/OS database systems and their architecture.
• Strong knowledge of relational database design and optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in backup and recovery procedures for large-scale databases.
• Familiarity with IBM Db2 tools and z/OS operating systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple database environments.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
