Position: Safety Coordinator
Location: New Albany, Ohio
Department: EHS
Reports to: Safety Manager
Shift: First Shift: Typically Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Specialist will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will collaborate with various departments to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks, conduct safety training, and promote a culture of safety awareness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Assist to develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
Drive the New Hire Safety Orientation Program; overseeing its development, implementation, and continuous improvement to ensure that all new employees receive comprehensive safety training and orientation
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with established safety standards, identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate them.
Assist with investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures or corrective actions as necessary
Update and maintain emergency response plans, conduct periodic safety drills, and provide emergency response training to ensure a swift and organized crisis response.
Ensure that safety policies are effectively communicated and followed by all employees.
Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization.
Perform work observations and coaching to correct unsafe behaviors and promote safe work practices and actions
Stay up-to-date with relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure company compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred
2-3 years of experience in safety management within general industry, production, manufacturing, or warehouse settings, preferred.
Either a solid educational foundation or years of experience in safety management; ideally, candidates will have both.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer (10- and 30-hour General Industry) is desired
Safety certification, such as CSP, ASP, CHST, etc., is a plus.
TRAVEL: 20%; This role will be responsible for traveling between our New Albany and Newark sites to cover our largest locations.
PAY INFORMATION: The pay range for this role is between $20-$30 and hour, depending on education and experience.
