Primary Purpose:
The K-12 cafeteria monitor oversees students during lunchtime and recess, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment. This role involves assisting students with their needs, maintaining cleanliness, monitoring behavior, and managing the flow of students during mealtimes and transitions. While this job description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, management reserves the right to modify and assign duties as deemed necessary.
Specific Responsibilities:
To ensure a safe environment for students during meals and maintain a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria and the outside eating areas.
Wiping tables, picking up trash and trays, and ensuring the cafeteria is clean and organized.
Supervising students in the cafeteria to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Ensuring students are following cafeteria rules, promoting good table manners, hygiene practices and addressing any behavioral issues appropriately.
Guiding students in and out of the cafeteria, helping them find seating, and organizing dismissal.
Assisting students with needs during mealtimes, such as opening packages or using utensils.
Reporting concerns to instructors or administrators and assisting with spills. Completing required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
Potentially collaborating with the Nutritional Supervisor to implement allergy guidelines.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
