This is a 7 hours-per-day, 180 days-per-year Prof/Tech Paraeducator - Behavior Intervention Support position with benefits located at various locations. Anticipated start date is September 2, 2025.

The successful candidates will work as part of the Behavior Intervention Support team to support students in an in-district alternative placement at various locations.
JOB TITLE: Professional-Technical Paraeducator – Behavior Intervention Support
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Paraeducator - MESP
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist and support students as identified who exhibit behaviors that significantly interfere with their learning. Provide support in assignments at sites around the district as needed.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work cooperatively with special education and general education teachers and specialists in the district serving students with disabilities.
Coordinate with general and special education staff in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a variety of behavior intervention strategies. May provide expertise, direction, and materials to other classified staff to ensure the implementation of specific behavior intervention strategies.
Provide individual and small group intervention in, but not limited to, the areas of social skills, anger management, dealing with stress, and problem solving.
Attend continuous training on pro-social behavior strategies from Behavior Intervention Specialist(s) and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
Provide direct academic, vocational, and specially designed instruction.
Encourage and foster student independence in all settings.
Collect functional behavior assessment data on individual students.
Implement components of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) as required.
Ensure the safety of students and staff when dealing with escalated behavior.
Model the use of replacement strategies/redirection and the utilization of self-monitoring systems when implementing behavioral supports for students with behavioral challenges.
Provide coaching and support for staff as required for the position.
Provide support to the Behavior Intervention Support Team with activities such as preparation of instructional materials, communications, student records and behavior documentation.
Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs.
Comply with District Policies.
Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate standard classroom equipment.
Ability to provide for the physical, health and safety needs of students.
Knowledge of computer applications used to assist with student learning.
Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.
Ability and willingness to work at various sites across district based on program needs.
Education/Certification:
Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Meet one of the following requirements:
Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or
Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university, or
Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council, or
Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:
ETS ParaPro Assessment.
Pearson’s Paraprofessional Assessment.
The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
Valid Washington Driver's License, with acceptable driving record.
Depending on assignment, may be required to complete behavior modification programs, including safe physical restraining techniques and/or other training as required.
Experience:
