Program Manager, Financial Aid - Administrative Staff and unclassified pursuant to §124.11 (A) (30) and §3333.03 of the Revised Code. Serves at the pleasure of the Chancellor and in a fiduciary capacity to the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Reports to the Director, Financial Aid. Has access to confidential and sensitive information and information systems including personally identifiable information as defined by FERPA.
Assists the Director with the administration of state and federally-sponsored scholarship programs.
Drafts new policies or policy revisions as appropriate for review by the Director.
Develops and implements programmatic goals.
Analyzes and evaluates program policies and procedures to ensure effective program operations and compliance with departmental goals.
Represents the Director at meetings and conferences.
Provides technical information to assist the Director in decision making.
Reviews documentation and authorizes appropriation disbursements for the Office of Financial Aid.
Reviews documentation, independently, and authorizes financial aid award disbursements to campuses and students.
Tracks disbursement information and completes annual reconciliation reports with campus financial aid offices.
Communicates, independently, with college financial aid administrators to ensure that colleges and universities are in compliance with Ohio Department of Higher Education regulations and procedures.
Explains and interprets policies and procedures.
Collects and reviews confidential documents.
Writes reports, letters and memoranda that may contain sensitive and confidential financial or student information.
Makes presentations and conducts training with campus financial aid staff.
Researches and responds to inquiries and complaints from students, parents, and advocacy organizations.
Furnishes information and explains program policies and procedures to students and parents.
Prepares data for annual meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM:
Bachelor’s Degree
Must have exceptional communication, presentation, and customer service skills as this individual will be required to interact with the public on a daily basis in a professional and courteous manner.
Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently while researching and resolving issues.
PREFERRED:
Experience in the administration of state and/or federal financial aid programs.
