Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Health Information Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coding inpatient records efficiently and accurately.
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology preferred
Minimum Experience Required:
1-3 years of coding experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications Required:
RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills in English: reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
Able to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a dynamic environment
Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and pathophysiology
Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding systems
Familiarity with the MS-DRG classification system
Key Responsibilities:
After gaining 6 months of experience, successfully code an average of 2 inpatient records per hour.
