Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Engineer I (GME I) will perform craftsman-level work in the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of the systems as required in building maintenance, inclusive but not limited to doors and related hardware; sinks, tubs, toilets, faucets, valves and related plumbing; lighting switches and fixtures; drywall works, painting and refinishing of walls and wall coverings and ceilings; hardwood floor coverings, trim, molding and skirting. Must also be able to carry out minor general type handy-man’s work, on household carpentry, furniture and cabinet; electrical apparatus and equipment such as TVs, radios and home entertainment centers.
Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of general building and grounds including carpentry, drywall, carpet, tiles, masonry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and painting tasks;
Respond to work orders according to company policy and keep record of work completed.
Consistently practice safe work habits including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment and reporting of unsafe situations.
Complete any additional tasks and assignments as required.
General builders’ trade skills to include drywall repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical and use of related tools
Experience with basic plumbing and electrical systems in building maintenance
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate and technically savvy with electronic handheld devices
Must be able to work on tasks with minimum to no supervision.
Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting equipment (up to 50lbs unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, stooping, crawling or walking while carrying out job functions.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time outdoors and indoors in working conditions exposed to heights, noise, vibration, heat, water, chemicals, fumes and dust.
Attention to detail and able to learn and work in fast paced environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule; weekends, holidays, shifts – including overnight shifts
Good customer service skills.
