Galvions Warfighter Systems Integration Lab develops highly immersive advanced combat simulations leveraging Virtual Reality and state of the art scientific design to drastically accelerate the integration of advanced weapons technology and robotics into the Warfighters mission. We are seeking a talented, experienced and highly motivated full stack Unity 3D Game Developer to join our team and support the development of our next high-intensity VR multiplayer combat simulation.

Role Overview

As a Full Stack Unity Game Developer, you will architect and code the core components of a virtual reality multiplayer combat simulation built in Unity 6 for PCVR. You will leverage your expertise in C# for Unity, networking, and VR development to create a robust, scalable, and immersive simulation experience that integrates and connects with external systems in real time. This role requires a strong ability to design high-level software architecture, implement efficient code and leverage Unitys tools, ensuring seamless multiplayer functionality and a smooth VR experience.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture Design: Design and implement the core architecture for a VR multiplayer combat simulation, including game systems, networking infrastructure, and VR interactions.

C# Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable C# code for Unity to drive gameplay mechanics, UI, and backend systems.

Multiplayer Networking: Implement robust networking solutions for real-time multiplayer gameplay, ensuring low-latency, reliable, and scalable performance using Unitys networking frameworks (e.g., Netcode for GameObjects or Photon).

VR Development: Develop immersive PCVR, OpenXR-based experiences, optimizing for performance and comfort in VR environments, in particular Meta Quest 3.

System Optimization: Optimize game performance with a strong emphasis on physics and communication.

Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other developers to integrate assets, implement gameplay features, and ensure a cohesive user experience.

Documentation: Document code, architecture, and workflows to maintain clear and accessible project knowledge.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 4+ years of professional game development experience with Unity, including at least 2 years working on VR projects and multiplayer games.

C# Expertise: Advanced proficiency in C# programming for Unity, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and Unity-specific APIs. Familiarity with Git-based version control.

Networking Skills: Proven experience implementing local multiplayer networking solutions (e.g., Unity Netcode, Photon, or Mirror), with a deep understanding of client-server architecture, lag compensation, and synchronization.

VR Development: Hands-on experience developing for VR platforms, OpenXR-based, limitations of VR and familiarity with specific UI characteristics applied to VR.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in real-time multiplayer and VR environments.

Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience working in agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Unitys DOTS, Entitiy system a plus.

Familiarity with spatial audio implementation in VR.

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for game development.

Passion for combat simulation and a strong respect for Defense operators and Galvions mission.

Comfortable working in a Defense-based environment.
