CDL Class B Driver for Industrial Scale Servicing Company

We are seeking a CDL Class B Driver Manual Air Brakes needed to join our team! You will be responsible for safely operating a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).

The position entails driving from site to site, testing, calibrating, and repairing weighing equipment. Upon approval of driving record and background check, you will be provided w/ a company work vehicle as you travel to the shop in Addison and/or travel right to customer's sites. Let us be very clear. You will not be driving the Larger Test Truck which requires the CDL everyday. The main purpose of this role is to train you to be an industrial scale technician while you drive the heavy duty truck as needed. The CDL truck use will receive additional pay bonus when you drive the truck.

We need an individual with a positive attitude and good communication skills to test and repair electronic weighing equipment at our customers’ sites (we will train). There is no overnight travel but you will spend a lot of time driving in the Chicago area and NW Indiana. A company van (which you will also use back and forth to work) and expenses are provided.

The job requires a great deal of physical labor. We require that you be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 80 lbs. because you will be lifting 50 lb. test weights, sometimes daily. You would be required to pass a Department of Transportation physical and a strength test. Preemployment drug testing and random testing are also required. Background checks are also required.

We insist on a safe driving record and will check your driving history.

We are one of the largest and oldest scale distributors in the Chicagoland area. We offer a full benefit package including health, life, and disability insurance, all 100% company paid. Paid vacations, sick pay, and holidays are included. Hourly wage is based on skills and experience. You may earn extra money by writing custom software, servicing custom products, our commission programs and some mandatory overtime.

Our hours are 8-4:30. However, we offer 24-hour service to our customers. Therefore, each technician is required to be on call for one day a week and one weekend at a time on a periodic basis. Premium overtime pay will apply when called out after hours.

Responsibilities:

Safely Operate our (2) Class B CDL Air Brake, manually driven Test Trucks.

Safely Operate the Hoist that loads and unloads our Cart and Test Weights from the bed of the trucks.

Communicate appropriately with customers and follow all safety procedures inside of plants, mills, factories, and other industrial complexes of food, chemical, and other regulated facilities.

Learn the new trade of becoming a scale technician. We are looking for a full time Scale Technician who has their CDL so that we can access the customers scales like we need to.

Be able to fill out standard data entry for scale calibrations.

Be willing to learn and absorb a new exclusive trade. It is rare, and it is nice experience that will benefit to remain with the company or branch off to something different.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in truck driving or other related fields

Commercial driver's license Class B Air Brakes Manual

Ability to handle physical workload, sometimes repetitive lifting up to 80 lbs.

Strong work ethic

Ability to Learn and a Scale Trade, get Certified
