Job Title: Data Scientist – Precision Agriculture & AI Systems

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Scientist to join one of our early-stage ventures focused on transforming the livestock farming industry. This role is pivotal in leveraging sensor and computer vision data to build AI/ML models that drive efficiency, sustainability, and welfare across agricultural operations.

Role Summary:

Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to define data needs and technical requirements.

Conduct exploratory data analysis and develop algorithms for AI models.

Analyze sensor and vision data to support ML pipelines.

Communicate insights and findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

Drive smarter business processes through analytics and data-driven decision-making.

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead development of ML models using sensor and computer vision data to optimize operations.

Translate business needs into data-driven product features.

Evaluate third-party tools and manage in-house data science projects.

Serve as lead data strategist for integrating structured and unstructured datasets from IoT and vision systems.

Build models for anomaly detection, forecasting, and automation in precision agriculture.

Design algorithms for large-scale sensor/image/video data; perform validation and error analysis.

Analyze spatial and temporal patterns to support product and business goals.

Collaborate with ML and software engineers to deploy models in cloud and edge environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Analytics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.

7+ years of experience in data science, including work with sensor and/or computer vision data.

Deep expertise in AI/ML, analytics, and data science.

Strong background in pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and time-series analysis.

Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Experience in vendor selection and project management.

Proficiency in Python (preferred), with libraries such as OpenCV, Pandas, TensorFlow/PyTorch, scikit-learn.

Familiarity with SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Jupyter).

Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.

Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate across technical and non-technical teams.

Strong Pluses:

Substantial experience conducting data science on datasets from computer vision systems.

Current or Previous career-role focus on AI modeling

Familiarity with cybersecurity principles.
