This role allows you to provide essential communication access remotely while collaborating with educators and students.

Position Overview

As a Virtual School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, you will facilitate communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff in educational settings via virtual platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Provide accurate and professional sign language interpretation during virtual classroom sessions, IEP meetings, and other school activities

Collaborate with educators, students, and families to ensure effective communication access

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics

Participate in virtual IEP and team meetings as needed

Keep detailed logs and documentation as required by the school district

Qualifications

Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID Certification, NIC, or state-specific certification)

Experience interpreting in K12 educational settings preferred

Knowledge of educational terminology and interpreting ethics

Reliable high-speed internet, webcam, and secure workspace for virtual sessions
