This role supports and enhances patient health by ensuring the smooth daily operation of the patient care area. It involves assisting support staff and collaborating with clinic providers to deliver physical and emotional care within the scope of the Medical Assistant's training and certification. This is a safety-sensitive position, involving responsibilities-such as driving-that, in the employer's good faith judgment, could impact the safety, health, or reputation of the Agency, its participants, the employee, or others.
Shift: Monday through Friday
Responsibilities:
Room patients: take vitals, gather history, reconcile medications, prep for procedures.
Administer medications, immunizations, long-acting injectables, and COVID vaccines as ordered.
Perform lab tasks: waived testing, venipuncture, and COVID testing.
Manage patient communications, phone messages, and prescription refills.
Support providers with patient education and in-office procedures.
Ensure compliance with infection control, medication handling, and safety protocols.
Maintain inventory and stock exam rooms and medication areas.
Complete documentation, progress notes, and prior authorizations in the EHR.
Collaborate with the care team to support Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) goals.
Report communicable diseases and assist in emergencies.
Coordinate with medical staff for coverage and complete required trainings.
Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required:
HS diploma or GED plus Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program
Possess valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, MVD report, and reliable transportation
Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records
Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and successful completion of a background check Mental and Emotional:
Mental and emotional requirements include prioritizing workload, decision-making ability, using sound judgment to field inquiries concerning administrative, clinical and operational concerns and ability to greet and deal effectively with participants, families, staff and community members. Physical:
Long periods of sitting, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer
Series of Hepatitis B shots or declination of same at hire
Proof of negative TB test or declination of same at hire
Encounter occasionally hazards such as, but not limited to, bodily fluids and potentially infectious materials Qualifications Preferred:
Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Sign Language.
Previous front and back-office experience in a primary care setting
