Automation Assembly Technician

Fives Group is looking for an Automation Assembly Technician in the Columbus, OH area.

What You Will Be Doing:

Install, maintain and repair electro-mechanical, electrical, and electronic components on custom automation systems. You will initially be stationed at one site in the area and may eventually travel to other customer locations in the Columbus area. Job Description:

Install, configure, maintain, and debug mechanical installation of conveying system apparatus (Pneumatic, hydraulic systems) as well as hardware and software systems

Install, repair and replace defective parts in conveyors, generators, motors, controllers, switchboards, switches, conductors and other electrical devices

Wiring motor power controls equipment circuits, reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics

Troubleshoot electrical systems such as PLC/HMI and robotic arms

Testing wire connections with test equipment using multi-meters and oscilloscope

Assemble junction boxes, back plates and harnesses per print

Train customers or operators on the proper use and maintenance of the automation systems Qualifications:

Experience in the debug of input/outputs of electrical system

Knowledge of mechanical drawings (blueprints) and practices, electrical diagrams, schematics and practices, pneumatics, hydraulics and general assembly procedures is beneficial.

2+ years of related automation experience

Solid understanding of sensors, controls hardware/software, motion systems, and industrial robotic arms

A minimum of basic hand tools required

Able to work independently and effectively communicate with the rest of the engineering and operations team

Strong communication skills as this role is customer facing

A positive attitude with technical aptitude or background is required Education:

Associate Technical Degree or experience in an automation/manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
