Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol

Report In Location - 1970 W Broad St, Columbus 43223

Within the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Fiscal Services Section, supervise Fiscal Services staff who prepare, process &/or analyze accounting records, financial statements, &/or other financial reports & data:

Manage assigned areas of responsibility (i.e., accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants, Controlling Board preparation, payment card program, & budget activity); Enforce section policies & procedures;

Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews);

Oversee daily work activities by assigning & reviewing work; Ensure subordinates are properly trained in order to maintain acceptable employee performance;

Conduct staff meetings & communicate information concerning operations;

Maintain reports concerning section activities & related program reports;

Examine &/or analyze accounting records & financial statements;

Coordinate & monitor OSHP's participation in grant programs (e. g., grant opportunities, proposals, etc.);

Coordinate & direct program activities (e.g., operating & capital budgets, internal audits & allotment plans);

Interact with other agencies & organizations to resolve disputes & improve the efficiency of the Fiscal Services Section;

Assist higher-level supervisors with program activities (e.g., establish & enforce section policies & procedures by serving as liaison with the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Division of State Personnel, Office of Budget & Management (OBM), other state & public agencies & government officials in all matters relating to areas of fiscal responsibility);

Verify, approve & secure revenue deposits;

Assist with budget preparation & requests for new equipment, personnel & supplies;

Assist with requests for statistical analysis & cost projections from other sections;

Conduct field training;

Prepare accounting records & financial statements;

Perform various payroll activities & other duties as assigned.

54 mos. exp. or 54 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of graduate core program in public or business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Senior Financial Analyst, 66563.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
