Solution Architect

Location – Krakow

12-18 months assignment

Why is this job for you:

The Business Solution Architect plays a critical role in bridging Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) to drive digital transformation in the paper and pulp manufacturing industry. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing integrated digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency, production reliability, data visibility, and innovation across manufacturing sites. The architect ensures that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with both enterprise IT standards and plant-level operational goals.

You will:

Design end-to-end architecture for digital solutions integrating IT and OT systems (e.g., MES, SCADA, PLCs, ERP, IoT)

Lead the development and implementation of smart factory initiatives like predictive maintenance, quality analytics, and OEE improvement

Define and enforce standards for connectivity, cybersecurity, and interoperability between OT systems (e.g., DCS/PLC) and enterprise platforms

Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including production, maintenance, and IT — to align technical solutions with business outcomes

Evaluate and select appropriate digital platforms (e.g., edge computing, data historians, cloud IoT platforms) based on specific use cases

Ensure high system availability and performance in production-critical environments

Work with vendors and system integrators to implement solutions with minimal disruption

Maintain detailed documentation of architectures, integration schemas, and deployment plans

Monitor compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and data governance regulations

Support the deployment of manufacturing analytics and AI-based solutions to enable data-driven decision-making

You have:

Degree in one of the following: Automation Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science / Information Technology, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering (with strong exposure to automation or digital systems)

Fluency in English

IT/Architecture:

TOGAF, ArchiMate, or Zachman

AWS Solution Architect Certification

OT & Industrial Systems:

ISA-95 (Enterprise-Control System Integration)

ISA/IEC 62443 (Industrial Cybersecurity)

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and enabling technologies (e.g., edge computing, digital twins, machine learning in production)

Travel required 20%

Experience with:

Aveva MES and PI experience

MES platforms (e.g., Optivison, GE Proficy)

SCADA and Historian systems (e.g., Aveva, Ignition)

IT/OT convergence platforms (e.g., PTC ThingWorx, Azure IoT Hub, Siemens MindSphere)

Working knowledge of:

Industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)

Programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, c#)

Industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, DCS)

Networking (firewalls, VLANs, switches, gateways in industrial environments)
