We’re searching for an energetic and passionate Director to lead our After School Program at Dorset Elementary School in Dorset, VT for the 2025-2026 school year. As the Director, you'll take the lead in overseeing all aspects of the Healthy Kids Program at your site.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: 2:45 PM – 5:30 PM
PAY: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES:
Ensuring Compliance: Make sure the program and staff follow all relevant state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and the host school’s expectations.
Delivering Fun: Lead engaging, hands-on activities aligned with our Healthy Kids Curriculum—everything from fitness and STEAM to arts, academics, and homework help. Be the hero that makes homework a little less painful!
Managing Operations: Oversee day-to-day management duties like tracking attendance, handling registration, and making sure staffing levels are just right to keep things running smoothly.
Family Engagement: Use the Playground App to keep families informed, connected, and updated with all the latest happenings.
Team Communication: Stay in sync with your direct supervisor through regular check-ins and updates. Working collaboratively ensures we deliver excellent care, maintain a positive team culture, and solve problems proactively.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
To qualify as a Director, you must meet one of the following criteria:
Be at least 18 years old and hold a BA, BS, or Associate’s degree
And have one of the following:
A minimum of 10 months of direct experience with school-age children
A Vermont On-the-Job Training Certificate
A Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential
A Vermont Program Director Credential
Vermont Teacher Licensure
A Master’s in a youth-related field
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
You’ve received medical clearance to perform all duties and are free of communicable illnesses (including TB).
You’re upbeat, approachable, and positive—with top-notch people skills that shine when interacting with kids, families, and coworkers. Reliability, professionalism, and punctuality are a must.
Physically, you’re up for the challenge—able to bend, lift, carry (up to 50 lbs.), and stay on the move with energetic children.
