ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the overall activities/operation of the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Ensures the Cardiac Cath lab services comply with federal, state, DNV and all other regulatory agencies and implements corrective action when necessary.Meets the NJ Department of Health's requirement of performing 100 procedures in the cath lab per year.
Establishes policies, procedures and clinical guidelines designed to ensure the provision and appropriateness of patient care and communicates to staff regarding same.
Serves as a liaison between the medical staff, nursing and technician staff in the Cath Lab.
Makes relevant recommendations to Administration.
Develops, evaluates and introduces new Cardiac Cath Lab services, equipment and procedures, and monitors current services for their medical justification and usefulness in improving patient care.
Evaluates and ensures clinical competency/privileges of all physicians in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Oversee compliance with appropriate utilization of laboratory equipment for a given procedure.
Participate in quality review/performance improvement of the Cardiac Cath Lab; respond to quality referrals/peer reviews regarding issues in the Cath Lab.
Meets with Administrative and Nursing leadership to discuss and work on issues relevant to the Cath Lab and its services.
Collaborates with Director of the Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiology at St.
Joseph's Paterson campus to develop synergies, guidelines, standardization, etc.
Participates in the development and implementation of educational programs for the Cath Lab staff.
Reports to the Academic Chairman/Chief of Cardiology.
