Job Duties:
The University of Wisconsin–Stout (UW–Stout) is seeking an Associate Director of Athletics. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation and is responsible for overseeing the internal operations of the Athletics Department. The Associate Director will also assist in providing departmental leadership, organization, coordination, and administrative oversight.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Provides oversight of multiple administrative areas and department initiatives which may include sports administration and other key functions
Ensures compliance with department policies as well as bylaws, rules, regulations, and interpretations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and all applicable conference with which the institution may be affiliated
Assists with overall strategic planning efforts for the athletics program
Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups representing the interests of the athletic department
Develops, communicates, and monitors goals for areas of responsibility that support strategic plans and department initiatives
Responsible for policy development, budget planning and ongoing staff development
Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

UW-Stout is an NCAA Division III university and is a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). UW-Stout has more than 700 student-athletes competing in eleven women’s varsity sports and nine men’s varsity sports, as well as competitive Esports, cheer and stunt, dance, and the newest addition to the sports module – women’s flag football.

Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of college athletics, with a demonstrated record of success at the collegiate level. They will have a strong commitment to excellence in academics and athletics. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be skilled in working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and external stakeholders and will demonstrate a commitment to the university’s distinct polytechnic mission.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Three years of experience working in a collegiate athletics department.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or terminal degree from an accredited institution.
Experience with internal operations of an athletics department.
Experience at an NCAA Division III institution.
