The City of The City of Dublin is proud to possess a team of highly trained and passionate Swim Instructors who are dedicated to teaching safety and swimming skills to a variety of ages and abilities. Under the direction of the Aquatics Programming Coordinator, these individuals would provide competent, safe instruction using recognized lead-up skills as established by the American Red Cross.

All Recreation Services team members have the chance to participate in incentive programs, professional development/team building trainings, growth opportunities and recognition events.

The indoor pools at the Dublin Community Recreation Center operate year round, while the Dublin Community North and South outdoor pools are open during the summer season.

Scheduling/Availability

We are currently seeking candidates that are available to work year-round

The scheduling process is very flexible and we offer a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and weekendsBeyond the Paycheck

Examples of Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Utilization of flexible teaching approaches that are adaptable to the age, experience and ability of participants to meet lesson objectives

Provide safe and competent instruction for all participants

Teach with encouragement and positive reinforcement

Begin and end all lessons on time

Return all materials to their proper place at the conclusion of class

Maintenance of class/participant records with updates made at the conclusion of every lesson

Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally with participants and parents

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age

Must have availability to work year-round

Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire

Current certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire

If you hold current certifications issued by an agency other than the American Red Cross, please indicate this on your application. Once hired, the City will ensure you are trained and certified according to American Red Cross standards. The cost of this certification cross-over is covered by the City and you are paid for the time you spend completing this training.

Must complete annual BCII Fingerprint Background Checks (the cost of this is covered by the City)
