The Opportunity:

This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the General Engineering Services division.

As a Sous Chef, you'll responsible for general food service work involving varied tasks including preparing food for all stations, specials, and other food stations. Responsible for sanitation and food safety in designated food station. Tracking of Cycle Menus, and Temperature Control Logs, Assist Café management with food production, catering and other designated projects and events.

Must possess the ability to:

Maintain a high level of quality and integrity of food confidence with customers

Has oversight for multiple service stations and must be able to lead the team in the absence of the Chef.

Prepares or directs preparation of regular and catering menu items according to prescribed menus and recipes. Sets up caterings as needed.

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Teamwork: Hospitality, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to building a positive team spirit, puts success of team above own interests, supports everyone’s efforts to succeed, exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views

Provide outstanding customer service

Assist with food ordering for the designated stations

Maintain food ordering sheet with needed food requests to ensure that product is on hand

Understand and protect the financial assets of the company at all times.

Control cost and maximize revenue

Communicate in a timely and professional manner with the five major groups we do business with.

Understand and be in compliance with all policies, procedures and laws related to employment, food handling, sanitation, and alcohol service within a restaurant.

Establishes quality standards for menu items and for food production.

Assist in controlling all costs pertaining to the kitchen.

Maintain sanitation of restaurant to exceed Health Department standards,

Maintain sanitation of station, sanitation certification

Maintains proper security of all restaurant personnel and guest property.

Assist in putting away stock

Open kitchen and turn on equipment as required

Assist in Delivery of catering orders as needed

Ability to Receive Catering Orders in Detail

Communicate needs to Café Staff accurately and timely

Train for the ability to fill in at all other Café Stations as needed

Ability to follow a recipe operational specification

Assist Kitchen and Catering preparation

Assist Ordering Par Sheets and Purchasing activity

Maintain a high level of quality and integrity of Food Confidence with Customers

Ability to work in a computer-based recipe & inventory program, by inputting recipes and invoices

Ability to correctly input all information on Production Logs on a daily basis

Ability to assist in operations accounting procedures

Assist in Kitchen in the proper practice of Preparation & Sanitation Techniques

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders

Ability to Lift 50 pounds

Work a flexible schedule as required by catering needs

Assist with all other Café duties and stations as required

Required Qualifications:

Minimum two years' experience in a kitchen environment

Strong customer service skills

Strong verbal communication skills

Must be knowledgeable about the preparation and production of Entrees, soups and salads in Banquets at high volume pace

Ability to prepare quality food in a fast-paced working environment

Ability to be flexible and handle several tasks at once

Ability to follow directions

Ability to understand and follow a recipe

Customer interaction skills a must

Customer Service Experience

Prior Kitchen Experience of 2-3 years, High volume would be helpful

Prior experience in banquet service a plus

Flexibility of working different Stations

Quick learning agility

Preferred Qualificartions:

Culinary Arts Degree Preferred

The base pay for this position is $17.00 – $34.00/hour

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
