As a Civil Municipal Construction Manager, you will create connections with junior and senior team members and support in developing client relationships through teamwork and dedication.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
Interpret, understand, and apply construction specifications and drawings
Oversee numerous municipal projects, review and track progress on construction submittals, quality control reports, and project schedules, and project status
Schedule, conduct, and oversee construction project walkthroughs for inspection of completed work for conformance with project plans and specifications
Write construction punch-list letters to document walkthroughs and final punch-list items found during walkthroughs
Oversee quality control on construction work, understand and review soil testing, asphalt testing, utility pipe installation and testing
Schedule, conduct, and oversee preconstruction meetings for civil municipal construction projects
Field work to gather and document accurate records of quantities for work performed and materials installed on roadway and underground utility construction projects or contractor payments and bond releases
Complete development plan review and prepare red-line comments to plans (education and experience dependent)
Preform data gathering, moderate calculations and analysis for civil municipal engineering and construction work
Work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, construction inspectors, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams members
Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity
Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer and/or Project Manager
Adhere to Horrocks’ safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
Take ownership of assigned tasks from start to finish
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, and/or Civil Engineering required
Utah Professional Engineering License (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required
Solid organizational, verbal, and written communications skills
Ability to interact with multi-discipline team members
Knowledge and experience Microsoft products
Knowledge and experience with civil construction projects including but not limited to underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain systems), road construction, concrete site work, asphalt pavement, road maintenance treatments (slurry seal, chip seal, crack seal, etc.), grading, survey, traffic control, and general site work
Knowledge and experience with civil construction management, layout, and operations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to support our client's overall project goal
