Education and Experience:
Must have bachelor's degree in the field of social or human sciences, education or juvenile justice.
Minimum of 1 year work experience (paid or volunteer) working with veterans and families in the mental health, criminal justice, education setting, or related social service field.
Knowledge of SOC (Systems of Care) and recovery principles and values, and how to operationalize them
Bilingual preferred, but not required
Must have valid TX driver's license and be insurable
Job Purpose:
Responsible for project coordination and service provision of the veteran's support project that serves male and female veterans within a 9 county service area.
Responsible for enhancing the availability of veteran peer-to-peer counseling and providing peer support services.
Responsible for developing and managing a local Veteran Provider Network and providing community education and awareness
Job Function:
Assists veterans and their dependents or beneficiaries regarding veteran's benefits and employment services
Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations applicable to the processing of veteran's claims; and of assessment techniques
Conducts outreach activities to identify veterans, their dependents, or survivors in need of intensive services, claims assistance and other supportive services
