Service Manager
Goal: Nestled in the heart of Columbus' historic German Village, Sycamore is an all-day café and restaurant. Responsibilities:
Hold the service team accountable for exceptional and quick service to ensure the guest experience is at the top of everyone's mind every shift
Responsible for keeping beverage costs at or below company goals by weekly ordering and inventory and actively using Margin Edge to track COG progress while actively adjusting your processes to align with store goals
Build relationships with your staff, be flexible with their scheduling needs, create a welcoming and enjoyable workplace, and provide praise performance feedback and developmental plans through timely evaluations to keep employee turnover to a minimum
Oversee daily bar operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency in service
You are responsible for all FOH interpersonal staff conflicts, including call-offs, progressive disciplinary action, and terminations, while collaborating with your General Manager
Communicate on an ongoing basis with your GM and maintenance team to flag high priority needs and follow through until the task is completed
Keep cleanliness as an ongoing project with weekly and daily cleaning, identify and assign larger tasks checklists, and follow through
Uphold server tip credit and dual jobs compliance
Communicate to the Executive Sous Chef and GM food quality issues or guest suggestions.
Collaborate with restaurant leadership to support broader operational goals and elevate the overall dining experience
Responsible for maintaining all up-to-date menus, food, drink, seasonal, and current promotions throughout the restaurant
Qualifications:
2-4 years minimum experience in a restaurant/bar position, cross-training preferred
Record of exceptional attendance, reliability, and scheduling flexibility
Attention to detail and desire to lead others by example
Strong experience in bar operations, including in-depth knowledge of liquor and spirits, draft and bottled beer systems, and wine service with a solid understanding of pairing fundamentals.
Ability to communicate effectively with hourly team members and managers
Work Environment:
This position is full-time, hourly, and 100% in-person
This position reports directly to the restaurant general manager
